Fresnel Lights - Stage Spot Lights
Fresnel lights (also known as stage spotlights) form the basis of any stage lighting set-up. Our range of fresnels/stage spot lights offer a high efficiency light output, which provide bright and powerful lighting for any film, television, theatre, or live event production. They are named “Fresnels” after the French physicist who developed the lens system, Augustin-Jean Fresnel.
The Fresnel lens structure is unique, as it consists of concentric rings that reduce the thickness and weight of the lens while maintaining the ability to focus light into a powerful beam. This design allows it to capture and direct light efficiently, ideal for stage and studio use. They are lighter and thinner than other lighting options, offering the ability to control the focus of the light which also makes it possible to create a variety of lighting effects, from soft washes to tight spots. All in, Fresnel lights are an extremely versatile lighting option.

Buying Fresnel lights
There are some considerations to bear in mind when buying Fresnel lights:
• Generally stage spotlights have 500, 1000 or 2000 watt lamp ratings and for most applications the 500 or 1000 watt types will be adequate, but it may be necessary to include several 2000 watt types on a large stage, or if the theatre spotlights are a long way from the stage.
• Consider whether the fresnel light runs on AC power, batteries, or both. Battery-operated models are excellent for location shoots.
